The United Church of Los Alamos is having two Christmas Eve candlelight services. 4-11 p.m. at 2525 Canyon Road. There will be a live Nativity from 5-7 p.m. in the west parking lot across from the Municipal pool on Canyon Road also that evening.

Celebrate the season with the Los Alamos Big Band. 7:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall at 3700 Canyon Road. The Los Alamos Big Band will present the big band sounds of the 40’s and 50’s and holiday tunes.

The Los Alamos Volunteer Examiner Group will be giving exams for Amateur Radio Licenses. This session will be 6:30 p.m. in the Club Meeting Room at 4017 Arkansas (the Old Fire Barn). If one is testing for a new license bring a picture ID, or two other forms of ID with your name and address on them (Utility bill, Credit Card bill or other) and a test fee of $15 either in cash or a check made out to “ARRL VEC”. Fill in Social Security number on the form 605 License Application. For those seeking a license upgrade, one will need the picture ID or two other forms of ID plus an original license and a copy of the license, or a valid CSCE (Certificate of Successful Completion of Exam) and a copy of the CSCE plus the exam fee of $15. Broken Mesa Ruins Hike. 11 a.m. Join Janie O’Rourke on a PEEC hike to explore Broken Mesa Ruins. The hike starts in Pajarito Acres, a subdivision of White Rock. The hike is about three to four miles long and takes approximately three hours. You will enjoy expansive mesa and mountain views and visits to two coalition period Indian ruins.
