Enjoy some Christmas favorites and dance music from the 30s, 40s and 50s as the Los Alamos Big Band plays for the annual Christmas dance from 7:30-10:30 p.m. in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall. Bring in the New Year with the sounds of fireworks at the Los Alamos Fire and Ice New Year’s Eve Celebration, from 6 p.m.-1 a.m. at the Valles Caldera National Preserve. Fees include a moonlit permit to cross-country ski and snowshoe in the Preserve. Permit fees are $25 for adults, $20 seniors, $15 for ages 6 to 15 years, and kids 5 and younger are free. Los Alamos Little Theatre will host a New Years Eve celebration with a special performance of Agatha Christie’s “Go Back for Murder” and a catered dinner from Cowgirl BBQ. Doors for the show will open at 7:15 p.m. and the show will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $45 a person and will be on sale at the Little Theatre box office, 1670 Nectar Street, 5-7 p.m. weekdays from Dec. 13 to Dec. 23 (payment by cash or check only).
