Saint Dimitri Orthodox Church will have its annual Holiday Bake Sale of cookies and sweets from traditional Eastern Orthodox lands. Now is the time to order these holiday specialties made from recipes that have been handed down from mothers to offer a holiday selection. The Holiday baked goods selection includes baklava, anatolian baklava, Greek monastery cookies, Greek koulerakia, paxamadia, Russian tea cakes and Russian honey cookies. Included with the baked goods is a sample of Russian tea and hand-dipped pure beeswax candles from the Monastery of the Archangel Michael in Cañones. The price is $24.99 per box. Russian tea will also be available for purchase. Call 660-9113 to order the holiday-baked goods.
The United Church of Los Alamos will have a 4 p.m. service on Christmas Eve followed by a live nativity. Residents are welcome to attend the service or stop by the live nativity for refreshments throughout the evening. The nativity will be at Central and Canyon, with a variety of animals. Those wishing to volunteer can call the church office at 662-2971.
