Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church will host the annual Shop on the Corner Christmas Sale from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at TOTH, lower level. The Christmas Sale features hundreds of new and gently used items, which the volunteer staff set aside all year. Holiday decorations, festive and new clothing, toys and games, books and music, linens, china and glassware, jewelry, leather goods and gifts are some of the featured items.
The Los Alamos Arts Council will present Frances Meier, pianist, at the December Brown Bag concert. The concert will be at noon at Fuller Lodge. The event is free.
Holiday Eco Crafts. Kids in first through sixth grades are invited to this holiday craft class at PEEC. A joint presentation by the Sierra Club and League of Women Voters will be at 7 p.m. in the upstairs meeting rooms of Mesa Public Library. Jack Richardson, project manager of the San Juan/Chama Utilization Project will address the county’s plans to divert the water from the San Juan/Chama for use in Los Alamos.

The 19th Annual Los Alamos Créche (Nativity) Show will be from 1-7 p.m. Dec. 7 and from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1967 18th St. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints sponsors the nativity exhibition, which is part of the annual WinterFest week celebration, the first week of December. Anyone in the community is invited to share a nativity set or more, if they collect nativity sets. Everyone is invited to the exhibit, which features crèches from members of most churches in Los Alamos. Bring the crèches to the LDS Church from 7 a.m.-noon Friday. The exhibit is free and refreshments will be served throughout the day.
First Friday Forts. Come to PEEC and get building. On the first Friday of every month, join other kids (and their parents) who like building forts, then play and hang out in the new place you created. The Los Alamos Symphony Orchestra will perform a free Christmas concert at 7 p.m. at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.
Dance Arts Los Alamos presents “Hansel and Gretel,” at 7 p.m. at the Duane Smith Auditorium. DALA will celebrate its 20th anniversary. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students/seniors. Children younger than age four are admitted free.
The 55th Annual Earth Treasure Show, sponsored by the Los Alamos Geological Society, will be from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 8 and from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 9. This year’s theme is “Collecting New Mexico.” Activities include exhibits, a silent auction, geode sawing, a wheel of fortune and food.
A public reception for “The Plazas of New Mexico Exhibit” will be from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the upstairs art gallery at Mesa Public Library. There will be a talk by Chris Wilson and Jose Zelaya, from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Join the Los Alamos County Recreation Division, members of the Posse Lodge, Pony Club and Stable Owners Association as they create a holiday event for all ages from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 9 for the North Pole Workshop and Luminaria Walk. The event includes professional digital photos with Santa and his elves, warm drinks, light refreshments and a holiday craft. Dress warmly, wear walking shoes and enjoy the North Mesa Stables lit up with luminaries and holiday lights. The event is free and a photo with Santa costs $5, with proceeds benefiting the Recreation Division Scholarship Fund. P.E.O. Chapter AK will have their Christmas Social Meeting at 7 p.m. at the home of Joan Brown, 325 Aragon. Valarie Miller will co-host. The program will be Christmas music.
