Los Alamos Co-op will host a “Shop with the Chef” program featuring Liz Thomson, former owner of Cookin’ in Style from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Co-op. Cost of the class is $15 for members, $20 for non-members. Sign up at the customer service desk or call 695-1579.

 Katy Korkos and Don Taylor will speak at the League of Women Voters’ Lunch with a Leader about improving business in the community. Mesa Public Library’s Poetry Gathering will be at 6:30 p.m. in the upstairs rotunda.
The Los Alamos Genealogical Association will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. in Room 3 of the Mesa Public Library.

   Kent Parsons will present a DVD featuring  Jay Verkler, CEO of Family Search. The subject will be  “The Technological Future of Genealogy.”

The Los Alamos Federated Republican Women will meet at 7 p.m.  at the home of Jean Johnson, 324 Kimberly in White Rock.  State Rep. Jim Hall, will be the guest speaker. The Betty Ehart Senior Center will sponsor the Festival of Chocolate from 7-9 p.m. Tickets are $20 each. The Festival of Chocolate formally launches the Festival of Trees, which will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 19. Admission is free, but collections of non-perishable items are taken to benefit programs.

Recurring meetings

The Atomic City Corvette Club meets at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at Time Out Pizza in White Rock. Guests are always welcome. You do not need to own a Corvette to attend. For more information, contact Mike Luna at 672-4087.

The Lions Club meets at 84 Barcelona in White Rock on the first and third Thursdays. They enjoy a meal and combine fun and social gathering with a business meeting. Those interested are invited to attend one of the meetings as a guest. For more information, call 672-3300 or 672-9563.
