Enjoy a Halloween hayride from 4-6 p.m. at the Posse Lodge. The cost for adults is $5; $2 for youth (4-17); and $1 for children. Members of the Posse Lodge, Pony Club and the Los Alamos Recreation Division work together to create a fun hayride for all ages. After the hayride, warm drinks and refreshments will be available at the Posse Lodge. Dress warmly and bring your own blankets. Register at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center front desk. There is a limited number of tickets being sold per hour.
Big MAC will host their middle-schoolers-only October dance, “Halloween Howl,” at the Pueblo Gym, 1990 Diamond Dr. from 7-9 p.m. Admission is $3. Parent chaperones are needed and their middle schooler will be admitted free. A costume contest will be held. Big MAC is sponsored by the Youth Activity Center, a program of the Los Alamos Family Council.
Come to Pajartio Environmental Education Center from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. for some spooky Halloween crafting fun. Kids ages 10 and up are invited to wear their costumes to PEEC for a free crafting party. We’ll turn plastic bags into cool pencil cases, tote bags and more. Bring a plain cotton T-shirt, if you’d like to make a shirt. Spooky snacks will be served. The free activities will be led by Emma Starrett for the Los Alamos High School and middle school Environmental Clubs. PEEC is located at 3540 Orange Street.
Maul of Horrors Haunted House, sponsored by For Kids Sake. Open from 6-11 p.m. and from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 25-29; 7 p.m.-midnight Oct. 30; and noon-7 p.m. Oct. 31. DeVargas Center, Santa Fe. For Kids Sake will also host El Pueblo Asylum, a haunted house and pumpkin patch in Española. The event will be located at the old El Pueblo Bank Building in the San Pedro Plaza. El Pueblo Asylum will run from 6-11 p.m. Oct. 28-30 and noon- 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Admission is $3 or $10 for a family four-pack. For more infomration call 577-3678.
The Los Alamos Kiwanis club will have a pancake breakfast from 7-11 a.m. at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $4 for children and are available at the door or can be purchased from Kiwanis members.
Fuller Lodge Art Center’s annual Fall Arts & Crafts Fair takes place from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 23 in a new location at the Catholic Church Parish Hall on Canyon Road. Call 622-1635 for more information.
Fall is officially here and that means it’s time for Piñon Elementary’s Annual Pumpkin Patch. This year’s Pumpkin Patch will be from 10 a.m.-
2 p.m. This is Piñon Parent Teacher Organization’s fifth year of hosting the community event.
Night of La Llorona storytelling is sponsored by the Española Public Library, Melpatch Arts Center and the Salazar Family of Rancho de La Canova. The event will be at 6 p.m. at La Canova in Velarde and will feature free food and hot chocolate. Musical performance provided by Imperial Roosters, storytelling and scary poems begin at 7 p.m. Guests are asked to bring chairs or blankets and to dress warmly. Celebrate Halloween with the pumpkin splash and Halloween carnival from 2-2:30 p.m. at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center. Registration fee is $7. Games include diving for pumpkins, carnival games, cupcake walks and other activities. Register from 1-4 p.m. at the aquatic center.
