Green Hour Hikes. 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Meet at local trailheads for meandering hikes where kids set the pace and decide the activities. The group will meet at the East Fork trailhead. Free. Quiet, Gentle Walk. 9:15 to 11:45 a.m. A gentle walk along a relatively flat trail. The walks range from one to two miles in length and may include easy changes in elevation. The Democratic Party of Los Alamos invites all Democrats to their monthly meeting 7 p.m. at UNM-LA in building 2. Information about the debt ceiling, the sequester, the budget and how the government shutdown will affect Los Alamos will be discussed. Upcoming events will also be planned.

The LAHS Naval Junior ROTC unit will have a brisket dinner on from 5:30 to 7:00 at the Posse Lodge. The donations for the meal will benefit former LAHS graduate, Lieutenant Micah Andersen. All donations will be made through Los Alamos National Bank into an account set up to benefit the family.

The Republican Central Committee will meet at 7 p.m. in room 608 on the UNM-LA campus. All interested Republicans are invited to come. Republican principles and rules will be one topic for discussion along with planning and organizing future events.
