LeadHer: Los Alamos is a new, interdenominational Christian women’s group. The purpose of this group is to help women grow spiritually through revelation, inspiration, and application. LeadHer Los Alamos meets twice a month. During the first meeting, the women get together and watch a video teaching with a theme. Mesa Public Library presents Game Night at Mesa from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Bring your games or play theirs. For all ages.


The annual campaign kick-off for the United Way of Northern New Mexico will be from 5:30-7 p.m. at Los Alamos National Bank, 1200 Trinity Dr. The Blue Window Bistro will cater food. The campaign kick-off is also a Chamber FAN (Food and Networking ) event and is free and open to all Chamber members and also to prospective Chamber members.



Lunch with a Leader will be from 11:40 a.m.-1 p.m. on the top floor of Mesa Public Library. The speakers will be Tom Nagawiecki, Los Alamos Environmental Services specialist and Sandra West, outreach coordinator at the Los Alamos Co-op. Food will be catered by the co-op, total cost is $10, which includes tax and gratuity. 


Poetry Gatherings at Mesa Public Library presents a special film event. “Beowulf” in the original Anglo Saxon with modern English subtitles will be screened at 6:30 p.m. in the upstairs rotunda.


There will be a meeting for all registered Republican Women at the home of Nona Bowman, at 7 p.m. at 1045 Los Pueblos. The Los Alamos Genealogical Association will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. in room 3 of the Mesa Public Library. The subject will be “Publishing Your Genealogy Book.” Speakers will be Paul Mutschlecner, Bette Christensen and Scott Howard. The public is invited.   



 Registration for the next session of dog training classes offered by the  Los Alamos Dog Obedience Club will begin Sept 4. Class schedule, registration guidelines and registration form will be available at ladoc.dogbits.com and at the LADOC building, 246 East Road. Registration materials must be postmarked by Sept 14.


The Summit Garden Plant Sale will be from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. in the lobby of Los Alamos National Bank. 


Have coffee with County Council candidate Kristin Henderson at 10 a.m. at Film Festival.


 Los Alamos County is holding a “grand re-opening” of the Performing Arts Center at 11:30 a.m. to celebrate the refurbishments and upgrades done to the old building. All are invited to attend this event, which will feature remarks by elected officials, acknowledgement of the work by the contractors, a short snippet from “Dead Man’s Cell Phone,” and the first public viewing of the newly rebuilt stage.
