The Los Alamos Choral Society is currently recruiting singers for the 201—2012 concert season. Dr. Mary Badarak, with Cindy Little as accompanist, directs the Choral Society. Registration and music distribution begins today and are from 7-9 p.m. at the United Church, 2525 Canyon Road. All singers are welcome.

Join in a planning meeting for “Moving Planet: Los Alamos,” a day of action to call for a shift to cleaner energy sources and for action on the climate crisis at 7 p.m. at Pajarito Environmental Education Center, 3540 Orange St.

The Los Alamos Art Council presents “Brass Ensembles,” part of the Brown Bag Performance Series at noon in the Pajarito Room of Fuller Lodge. Jan McDonald, Donna Smith, Mike Burns, Dave Korzekwa, Denice Korzekwa, Cindy Little, Larry Bronisz, Phil Jones, Jerry Morzinski, Bruce Letellier, and John Hargreaves will perform.

Poetry gathering at 6:30 p.m. in the upstairs rotunda of Mesa Public Library.

The Los Alamos Genealogical Association will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. in Room 3 of the Mesa Public Library. Lois and Lud Gritzo will present the program on how to prepare for a research trip. They will also give details on the Salt Lake Christmas Tour in Salt Lake City, Utah. The public is invited. Guitars at the Lodge featuring Rick Donovan will be at 7 p.m. at Fuller Lodge. Ticket are $15, or $10 for LAAC members.

The annual Knights of Columbus Scholarship Golf Tournament has been slated for Sept. 9 at the Los Alamos Golf Club. Entry fee is $60 for golf club members and $100 for all others. Format will be two-person team modified Las Vegas style scramble. For more information, call Tom Courtney, 699-4769.

Chit chat and change diapers, 10:30-noon, at Family Strengths Network. This is a discussion group for first-time parents of newborns to age three. No registration required, drop in for any session.

The Los Alamos Big Band free concert and dance will be from 7-10 p.m. at Fuller Lodge.

Recurring meetings

The Atomic City Corvette Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at Time Out Pizza in White Rock. Guests are always welcome. You do not need to own a Corvette to attend. For more information, contact Mike Luna at 672-4087.
