Sierra Club meeting with Superintendent Jason Lott from Bandelier. 7 p.m. at UNM-LA, building 6, room 612. Lott will give an update on the Monument’s transportation and fire management plans as well as the most recent flash flood.

College Day. Assets In Action is asking for the community to participate in a visual. All that live and work in Los Alamos are asked to wear their favorite college or military apparel to display their educational path of lifelong learning. Questions can be directed to 661-4846.

Walatowa Red Rocks Hike. 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mary Pecos, a guide at the Walatowa Visitor Center, will lead the group on a 1.5 mile hike through the beautiful red rocks in Jemez Pueblo. She will talk about the area’s geology and uses for local native plants. Meet at PEEC to carpool. $6. Advance registration required. The Pajarito Astronomers will be holding a County-Sponsored Dark Night at 7:30 p.m. at Spirio Soccer Field, Overlook Park. Weather permitting, the public is invited to come out, look through telescopes and star gaze. The planets Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus will be visible. There will be a tour of the summer and autumn constellations and telescope views of double stars, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies. Viewing will end before midnight.
