Friday
The Coffeehouse at Fuller Lodge will be at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy an evening of desserts and Chamber music by Paul Hindemith, Edvard Grieg and Johannes Brahms performed by Erica Otero, French horn; Anthony Maroudas, piano; and Kay Newnam, violin. Tickets are available at CB Fox Department Store.

Saturday
Local Boy Scout Jin Park will hold a Seed Ball Drive, from noon-4 p.m.  to help with reforestation efforts from the Las Conchas fire. Several locations will offer an open house-style format where volunteers can drop by for any length of time during the four-hour event. The process involves mixing mud and clay with grass seed, forming small balls, which will later be distributed throughout the burned areas. The locations include Ashley Pond and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos and Rocket Park in White Rock. Small financial donations can be directed to JJAB at P.O. Box 4716 in Los Alamos to offset the cost of the Scout project.

Sunday
  Rock Collection class for parents and kids, grades third through fifth, from 3-5 p.m.  at Pajarito Environmental Education Center, 3540 Orange St. Free.

Aug. 23
 Steve Brownell will  demonstrate the electronic reading aid  available at Brownell’s Hallmark at
10 a.m. in the Betty Ehart Senior Center classroom.  The magnifier connects to a TV and  projects in full color to that screen.

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos meets at 11:45 a.m. every Tuesday at Central Avenue Grill.

Aug. 24
Geekout game night will be from 5:30-8:30 p.m., upstairs in the Mesa Public Library.

Aug. 25
The Authors Speak Series presents Shelby Tisdale, PhD., director of the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe. Tisdale will talk about her book, “Fine Indian Jewelry of the Southwest” at 7 p.m. in the upstairs rotunda of Mesa Public Library.

Aug. 27
The Los Alamos Cooperative Market will host a free Wellness Fair from noon-5 p.m. The fair will feature free chair massages, a Tai Chi class and product samples. Sign-up is required for the 3 p.m. Tai Chi class and may be done at the co-op front desk.

The House of Hope High Tea and Fashion show will be at 2:30 p.m. in Kelly Hall at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church, 3900 Trinity Dr. There will be a silent auction, tea, raffle and sweet treats. All fashions are from the TOTH thrift store, “Shop on the Corner.” Advance tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger. Tickets at the door are $25 for adults. Proceeds go to support the House of Hope Women and their house building mission work in Juárez, Mexico.

 Los Alamos Medical Center’s “To Your Health” community education series continues from 6:30-7:30 p.m., as Dr. Jonathon Owen of Medical Associates of Northern New Mexico will speak on “Prevention and Screening for Chronic Kidney Disease” in the large conference room.
