The Los Alamos High School Football Gridiron Booster Club will have a Frito pie fundraiser from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Zia Credit Union.

Los Alamos Little Theatre will hold auditions for “An Inspector Calls,” the November LALT production from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 14 and Aug. 15 at the Los Alamos Little Theatre. Callbacks, if needed, will be Tuesday evening. There are parts for four men and three women, ranging in age from early 20s to 60s. Scripts are available for 24 hour checkout at Mesa Public Library. Aug. 20
Local Boy Scout Jin Park will hold a Seed Ball Drive, from noon-4 p.m.  to help with reforestation efforts from the Las Conchas fire. Several locations will offer an open house-style format where volunteers can drop by for any length of time during the four-hour event. The process involves mixing mud and clay with grass seed, forming small balls, which will later be distributed throughout the burned areas. The locations include Ashley Pond and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos and Rocketship Park in White Rock. Small financial donations can be directed to JJAB at P.O. Box 4716 in Los Alamos to offset the cost of the Scout project.

Sept. 9
The annual Knights of Columbus Scholarship Golf Tournament has been slated for Sept. 9 at the Los Alamos Golf Club. Entry fee is $60 for golf club members and $100 for all others. Format will be two-person team modified Las Vegas style scramble. Entry fee includes green fees, golf cart, lunch, drink ticket, awards and prizes. Central Avenue Grill will provide lunch. All proceeds from the tournament will be used for scholarships for 2012 high school senior. For more information, call Tom Courtney, 699-4769.

Sept. 10
The 17th Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s will begin with registration at 4 p.m. at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. A basket/quilt raffle will be from 4-6:30 p.m., along with a barbecue. Sept. 12
Summit Garden Club’s  plant sale, previously scheduled for Sept. 9, has been canceled due to the fire and drought.  Instead, the club will meet Sept. 12 to discuss preparing gardens for Winter. More information later.
