SKYWARN Spotter Training. 5:30-7:30 p.m. Meteorologists from the National Weather Service teach the basics of severe storms like thunderstorms, flash floods, downburst winds, and tornadoes. Downtown Dogs. A weekly walking group for dogs and humans. The walk starts from Pet Pangaea at 6 p.m. on Thursday nights for a stroll around downtown Los Alamos. Bring a leash, no longer than six feet.

Dorothy Hoard Memorial Butterfly Count. 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. This year’s butterfly count is held in memory of Dorothy Hoard, who spearheaded the Annual Butterfly Count for many years. New Mexico butterfly guru Steve Cary will identify butterflies and discuss their habits and life histories. No experience necessary.

Jemez Thrift Shop Bag Days. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 13 Sherwood Blvd. in White Rock.

Gordon’s Summer Concert Series. Janiva Magness. 7-10 p.m. at Ashley Pond for the Los Alamos County Fair and Rodeo weekend.

Human Body. 5-7:30 p.m. at the Bradbury Science Museum. Play with hands-on activities from the Pacific Science Center that will teach you all about the human body. Come and assemble a skeleton, identify organs and test your reflexes.

“Off the Cuff” a juried collection of artwork by artists who answered the call to “run wild, take a snapshot, experiment, gesture, sketch, scribble, doodle — then walk away. Let unfinished work do the talking. Marta Light is featured n the Portal Gallery. Opening reception 5-8 p.m. Daily through Sept. 20 at the Fuller Lodge Art Center.

Friends of the Shelter will be sponsoring a Mobile Pet Adoption from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. near Ashley Pond during the Los Alamos County Fair.
Summer Arts and Crafts Fair. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Fuller Lodge Lawn.

Warm Water Weekend. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center.

Bradbury Science Museum Cinema. 10:30 a.m. every Saturday. Short science films ranging in topics from microbes to aquifers to addiction.
