Thursday
Lions Club meets at 84 Barcelona in White Rock on the first and third Thursdays.  They enjoy a meal and combine fun and social gathering with a business meeting. You are cordially invited to attend one of our meetings as a guest.  Call 672-3300 or 672-9563 for more information.  

The Atomic City Corvette Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at Time Out Pizza in White Rock. Guests are always welcome. You do not need to own a Corvette to attend. Contact is Mike Luna at 672-4087.

Bandelier National Monument is offering a free Tsankawi evening walk at 6:30 p.m. Reservations are required. Call 672-3861, ext. 517.

The Los Alamos Master Gardeners are meeting at 7 p.m. at the White Rock home of Jane Bendt, 59 La Paloma. They will have a general meeting and discuss how they get their gardens ready for winter.

Friday
 The Los Alamos Cooperative Market will host an evening of Americana and old time standards with “The Fabulous Co-op Brothers” from 5-7 p.m. “The Fabulous Co-op Brothers” will play from the American songbook, with emphasis on bluegrass, country and old time standards. The event is free and will be on the lawn of the Co-op, just west of the Holiday Inn Express in the Entrada Business Park.

Sunday
Immaculate Heart of Mary will hold their annual parish picnic at 1 p.m. on the parish grounds, 3700 Canyon Road. They will show their gratitude to the firefighters, policemen and their families, who will be IHMC’s honored guests. IHMC parishioners would like to say a “big thank you” to those who helped to keep the town safe during the “Las Conchas” fire. 

Aug. 8
Los Alamos Public Schools and the Juvenile Justice Advisory board will sponsor a free presentation by author Consuelo Kickbusch, from 6-9 p.m. at the Duane Smith Auditorium.  Her presentation includes sharing her story and providing practical techniques for children to develop higher self-esteem and achieve personal goals, while establishing a framework for early leadership development.

Aug. 9
The Rotary Club of Los Alamos meets at 11:45 a.m. every Tuesday at Central Avenue Grill.

Kiwanis meets noon to 1 p.m., Tuesdays at the Masonic Temple on Sage near 15th and Canyon. August programs include Aug. 9: Rick Reiss on RV travel, Aug. 16: Michael Lobato on Teen Center.

Poetry gatherings will be at 6:30 p.m. in the small meeting room, main level, of the Mesa Public Library.
