Cult Classic Horror Movie Series presents “Videodrome” at 9:30 p.m. at Mesa Public Library.
Galaxy Class at PEEC, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This “overview of the universe,” led by Jaye Gilmore, will include an introduction to light travel, stars, the birth of a galaxy, quasars and other “dark mysteries;” and will culminate with making a star map to take home and stargazing through a telescope outside. Missoula Childrens Theatre will host a casting call at 9:30 a.m. at Crossroads Bible Church. More than 50 roles will be cast for students entering first through 12th grades. Parent/guardian must be with each child when registering in order to sign the permission form. Audition is free, cost is $35 per child who is cast for the performance. Bandelier National Monument’s Chief Ranger Tom Betts will give a talk and slideshow presentation about his life and times as a bush pilot in Alaska from 7-8:30 p.m. in the upstairs meeting rooms at Mesa Public Library. Chris Judson, another Bandelier ranger will host the evening. This National Parks Night event is in conjunction with the current exhibit of photographs of national parks in the Mesa Public Library Art Gallery, titled, “Enchanted Parks: A Photographic Tale of Life in Our National Parks,” by Leslie Bucklin.
Summer Family Evenings at PEEC: Star Party. Join them for a late-night Summer Family Evening to look at the moon and stars through PEEC’s telescope. The summer sky is full of sights since the Milky Way and center of galaxy are visible. They will concentrate on diffuse nebulae (star nurseries) and star clusters (both open and globular — the oldest objects in the universe) as well as what are called planetary nebulae. They will also have fine views of the moon midway between thin crescent and first quarter and Saturn with its rings and moons. PEEC will have telescopes set up outside our building starting around 8:15 p.m. Free.
Fall Field User Meeting has been scheduled from 11:30 a.m. –1 p.m. Bring all schedule request and liability of insurance to the meeting, if unable to attend designate someone in your place. The Los Alamos Community of Atheists will host a discussion regarding the relationship between morals, ethics and atheism. The meeting will be from 6:30-8 p.m. in room one of Mesa Public Library. All are welcome.

The Los Alamos Tuff Riders mountain bike club rides have started. Tuesday and Thursday rides start at Sullivan Field at 5:30 p.m. and go as long as there is daylight. Saturday rides are at 9 a.m. at the roundabout. These are cross-country rides at beginner through advance levels of skill and fitness. Newcomers are welcome. Helmets are required.
