The Los Alamos Federated Republican Women will hold a barbecue at 6 p.m. at the home of Dr. Ann Wadstrom, 253 San Juan. Members and potential new members are invited. The Van of Enchantment, a statewide museum outreach vehicle operated by the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, will present “Road Trips,” a free traveling exhibition, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Mesa Public Library. The Van will close for an hour for lunch in the middle of the day.
The Los Alamos High School NJROTC will have a fundraising carwash from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Pueblo Complex on Diamond Drive. All proceeds will benefit the New Mexico Red Cross.
The Santa Fe Opera and its apprentice program will sponsor a “Welcome Home Los Alamos” special event from 3-6 p.m. at the home of Roland and Anna Caspersen, 135 La Senda Road, White Rock. The performance will honor the firefighters, police officers, Los Alamos County officials, lab officials and other heroes of the Las Conchas Fire. The SFO’s apprentice program has produced many international performers; this is an opportunity to meet the stars of tomorrow in a casual setting. Assets In Action and the JJAB will host a fundraiser for Los Alamos High School athletics based on the NBC television show “Minute to Win It.” The event will be from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Auxiliary Gym and admission is $2. The White Rock Family Friendly Film Series presents “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules,” at 7 p.m. in the White Rock Town Hall.
The Friends of the Senior Center and Assets In Action will hold the second annual intergenerational community Prom. The 6 p.m.-8 p.m. event will be at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. A king and queen of the prom will be named and concessions will be sold. Admission is $1 and the donation of one canned food or non-perishable item.
