The League of Women Voters invites the community to Lunch with a Leader 11:40 a.m. at Mesa Public Library. Their speaker is Probate Judge Christine Chandler who will give an overview of the New Mexico probate court system and initiatives that she has undertaken since she assumed office. She will also be reporting on the last Legislative session as it relates to current issues.
Kiwanis meets from noon to 1 p.m. each Tuesday in Kelly Hall at Trinity On The Hill Episcopal Church, 3900 Trinity Dr. Dawn Brown, Los Alamos County-Rio Arriba County regional director of the “Big Brothers, Big Sisters” organization, will describe what the organization does and how volunteers can participate.

The May meeting of the Los Alamos Master Gardeners will be a celebration of the 2014 graduating class of Master Gardeners. There will be a pot luck dinner along with graduation, 6 p.m. at the White Rock Town Hall. For more information call 662-2656.
AARP Sponsors Talk on Elder Financial Exploitation. Noon at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. Dara McKinney, trust officer with Los Alamos National Bank will give a talk focusing on how to recognize elder financial exploitation, how to avoid it and how to deal with it. Seniors in the community are vulnerable both from people they know and from strangers. Come with questions and leave with the knowledge.
Friends of Los Alamos Country Libraries — annual meeting. Noon at Mesa Public Library upstairs meeting room. All members to date, board members and the general public are invited to attend.
The Juvenile Justice Advisory Board’s next meeting will be 6 p.m. in Building No. 1, Camino Entrada Road, Pajarito Cliffs Site. Mary Louise Romero, Facilitator for Voices: A Program of Self-Discovery and Empowerment for Girls will provide a presentation on the success of this new program in Santa Fe. The public is welcome to attend.

Los Alamos Mountaineers presents outdoor adventurist Dave Rice. His presentation “Ancient Relics” will describe several sites that are easily accessible from Los Alamos and the discoveries a visitor might find there. 7:30 p.m. at Fuller Lodge.
Los Alamos Farmers Market. 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mesa Public Library parking lot. Vendors have fresh vegetables, plants and a large selection of gift baskets.
On Tap Series. Hosted each week by a group of Los Alamos cultural providers. 5:30-7 p.m. at the Manhattan Project. “Nature” hosted by the Pajarito Environmental Education Center. On Tap is an effort to increase programming and economic development in the Los Alamos Creative District. The Los Alamos Photo Club (LAPC) meets from 7-9 p.m., the third Tuesday of each month, upstairs in Fuller Lodge Art Center. The focus of LAPC is photography in general. LAPC normally has one or two field trips per year and occasionally sponsors workshops and classes. All are welcome. Dues are $12 per year and are good for the Los Alamos Adobe Users Group. Los Alamos Piecemakers Quilt Guild: Our Favorite Quilts at the Mesa Public Library Art Gallery. Daily through May 31.
“Things with Wings,” is a juried group exhibit displaying the work of Los Alamos artists and artists from northern New Mexico. Each artist has an interpretation of the theme, as reflected in paintings, ceramics, photographs and manipulated digital media. The Portal Gallery features the woodcut prints of Lily Schlien. Daily through June 14 at the Fuller Lodge Art Center.
