 Los Alamos Master Gardeners present “Bear Aware,” at 7 p.m. at Fuller Lodge. The talk will focus on the basics of co-existing with bears in a rural environment.

Los Alamos High School students report on the Power Shift 2011 Conference at 7 p.m. at Pajarito Environmental Education Center. Members of the LAHS Environmental Club will address the Los Alamos Sustainable Energy Network meeting. Socializing will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Los Alamos Genealogical Association will have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. in Room 3 of the Mesa Public Library. Terry Bott and Stuart Nielson from the Family History Library will give a presentation on the indexing project for Northern New Mexico. There will be an election of officers. The public is invited. The Los Alamos Federated Republican Women will meet at 7 p.m. at the home of Marie Todd, 88 Lejano, White Rock, 672-3846.  County councilor Ron Selvege will bring highlights of the recent State Legislative session. A free conference to help families navigate the maze of care giving will be offered from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. May 13 and 14 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. Caregivers for aging parents, spouses, or loves ones with a long-term illness are encouraged to attend, but those who just want to be prepared are also invited. The Albuquerque and Four Corners Pipes and Drums will perform a Brown Bag concert at 12:05 p.m. at Fuller Lodge.

Los Alamos Little Theatre presents, “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” at 7:30 p.m. May 13, 14, 20 and 21 and at 2 p.m. May 15. The Los Alamos High School NJROTC will host a donation car wash from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Pueblo Complex, 1900 Diamond Drive. The proceeds will help fund the summer leadership camps and academies that the students will attend this year.

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos meets at 11:45 a.m.  Tuesday at Central Avenue Grill.

The May meeting of the Los Alamos Master Gardeners will be a potluck dinner, which will be shared with the 2011 class of Master Gardeners, to celebrate their graduation from the class. The event will be at 6 p.m. at the White Rock Community Building. There will be a short business meeting afterwards.
