The League of Women Voters’ monthly Lunch with a Leader. 11:40 a.m. at the Mesa Public Library. Three speakers will discuss the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board, centering around the history of JJAB, its relationship with state and county entities, its programs and collaborations, the scope of its work and current challenges and how people can get involved. The Los Alamos Genealogical Association will meet 7 p.m. in room 3 at the Mesa Public Library in Los Alamos. Jamie Charles will speak about indexing and Ron Smith will share “a genealogical breakthrough by persistence” story. The public is invited. There will no meetings during June, July and August.

The Los Alamos Federated Republican Women will hold a meeting noon-2 p.m. at the Ridgepark Clubhouse, 505 Oppenheimer Drive. Guest speaker will be Elaine Miller, president of NMFRW. The School of New Mexico Dance Theater presents the ninth annual spring recital New York, New York, 7 p.m. at the Duane W. Smith auditorium. Tickets are available in advance at Uli’s Cottontails, or at the door 45 minutes prior to performance times. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors and free for children age four and under. For more information call 920-9134.

The Pajarito Astronomers host Dark Night. 8 p.m., Spirio Soccer Field, Overlook Park in White Rock. Weather permitting. Public is invited for tour of winter and spring constellations. For more information, call Steve Becker at 662-3252.

The Los Alamos High School Hilltalkers host an all-you-can-eat Waffle Breakfast, 7:30-10 a.m. at Pajarito Mason Lodge at 15th Street and Canyon Road. Tickets are $6 each and can be purchased at the door. Children under six eat free. This community event raises funds for the high school and middle school speech and debate teams to attend tournaments and compete around the state and beyond.

Pajarito Mountain to Valle Canyon Hike, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Paul Arendt leads this moderately difficult hike with an elevation gain of 1,300 ft. and a descent of 2,500 ft.
