Today
The L.A. County Republican Party will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Hilltop House, third floor conference room.

The monthly meeting of the Democratic Party of Los Alamos will be from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Mesa Public Library, Room 3. Featured speakers will be Sam Bregman, Letitia Montoya and Javier Gonzales, all candidates for state party chair. They will talk about their goals and plans for the party through the election cycle in 2012, as well as the past legislative session. All interested Democrats are urged to attend.

Los Alamos Lions Club meets at 6 p.m. the first and third Thursday of each month. Those interested in the Lions Club should call Dennis Wulff at 672-9563 or email drwulff47@aol.com.

Robert Kresge, author of “Murder for Greenhorns,” signs his debut mystery Western at Otowi Station Bookstore at 6 p.m.  

Friday
In conjunction with National Park Week, April 16-24, there will be a hike at Bandelier National Monument led by Jamie Civitello and Rory Gauthier. The hike will be a light/moderate walk to the mesa behind campground loop at 2:30 p.m. Meet at the amphitheater parking lot. The hike will focus on archeology/ancestral pueblo peoples, but Bandelier’s recent ecological restoration projects will also be discussed.

Nate Downey, author of Harvest the Rain will speak on permaculture and water harvesting and do a book signing at 6 p.m. at Otowi Station Bookstore.

The Los Alamos High School Olions present, “Annie the Musical,” at  2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Duane Smith Auditorium. Tickets, $12 for adults and $7 for students and seniors, are available at the door.

Saturday
 Sell your goods at a rummage sale to benefit "Pegasus," the annual Los Alamos High School art and literary magazine. The sale will be at 8 a.m. in the Duane Smith Auditorium parking lot. Spaces are available for $20 and sellers keep the proceeds of their sales. Rental fees benefit "Pegasus." Rain date will be April 30. For more information or to reserve a space, call 663-2672.

The Elk’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be at 10 a.m. at Ashley Pond. There will be special visitors, including the Easter bunny. Bring a basket. The event is free and fun for the whole family. For more information, call 662-5611.

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos meets at 11:45 a.m.  Tuesday at Central Avenue Grill.

The monthly meeting of the Low Vision/Hearing group at the Betty Ehart Senior Center will feature a retina technician from Eye Associates. The meeting is at 10 a.m. All are welcome.

April 27
Earth Day Talk: Foundation of Sustainable Energy, 7 p.m. at Fuller Lodge. Dr. Donald O’Sullivan from Los Alamos National Laboratory will give a free talk sponsored by Pajarito Environmental Education Center and the lab. LANL participated in the oil spill clean-up at the N.M. gas outage recovery — hear what advances are being made in greening our infrastructure.

Los Alamos Medical Center’s community education series, “To Your Health,” will feature a presentation on the hereditary aspects of breast and ovarian cancer, by Dr. Kathryn Zerbach of Los Alamos Surgical Associates at 6:30 p.m. in the Large Conference Room. For more information, call 661-9165.

April 28
The Los Alamos High School baseball team is having a pasta dinner from 5-7 p.m. at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal church. Dinner features pasta and sauce, bread, salad, dessert and a drink for $6 in advance or $7 at the door. Take-out dinners available. For more information or for tickets, contact Connie at 672-4066.

The Los Alamos High School NJROTC will have a Barbecue Brisket Dinner from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Posse Lodge on North Mesa. This is the last Brisket Night of the school year. Dinner includes barbecue brisket, potato salad, vegetable, a roll, drink and dessert for $10.

 Voices of Praise Choir will perform a spring concert at
6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Los Alamos. Admission is free. A potluck dinner and reception will follow.
