Los Alamos Little Theatre will have a reading of the play “Tower of Magic” by local playwright Tess Light at 6 p.m. in the Green Room of the Performing Arts Center, 1670 Nectar Street. Anyone interested in reading from the script — or listening to the reading — is welcome to attend.
“Sisters in Art — Sisters at Heart,” shows daily in the Portal Gallery of Fuller Lodge Art Center through April 26.

The Los Alamos Republican Women will host a 2014 Republican Candidates Meet and Greet. 7 p.m. 1615 Central Avenue, Suite 100 (Downstairs from Pro2Serve & beside Metzer’s). All political persuasions are invited to come and meet the Republican candidates. First Friday Forts at PEEC! 3:30 to 5 p.m. Come build a fort or cook up something good in the mud kitchen. No formal program — just a time for kids to get together and have fun. Summer Concert Fundraiser. Music starts at 7 p.m., auction at 8:30 p.m. at Sheriff’s Posse Lodge on North Mesa. Lots of stuff to bid on to raise funds for the Summer Concert Series. Posse Lodge Pancake Breakfast. 7 to 11 a.m. All proceeds will benefit Los Alamos’ Friends of the Shelter. FOS will feature a silent auction of gift baskets donated by Zena Thomas and Best Buddy Baskets. The auction goes on all morning, as well as a chance to sign up for the Dog Jog before rates increase. Cost is $7 for adults, and $4 for kids 10 years and younger.
Mobile adoption and Doggy Kissing Booth from 9-11 a.m. at Posse Lodge. ‘Ask the Trainer’ table will be available to get some personal training advice from Sue Barns, who trains dogs for Assistance Dogs of the West, and has co-authored the book “Training Your Diabetic Alert Dog.”
Summit Garden Club. The program will be provided by Los Alamos native Tony Maggiore of Ecolutions, Los Alamos. His topic will be “Avoid ‘Zeroscaping:’ the evils of gravel, and gardening for good.” Visitors are welcome. For more information and time of meeting, call Laurie at 672-3483.
