The next meeting of the Los Alamos Geological Society will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 92 East Road. The featured speaker will be Shari Kelley, a geophysicist and field geologist at the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources in Socorro and an adjunct professor of geology at New Mexico Tech. Her talk is titled, “Timing of the incision of the Grand Canyon from a unique perspective.”
The Juvenile Justice Advisory Board meeting scheduled for March 20 is canceled because of schedule conflicts. The Juvenile Justice Advisory Board’s next meeting will be at 6 p.m. April 17 in Building #1, Camino Entrada Road, Pajarito Cliffs Site. The public is welcome to attend.
The White Rock Family Friendly Film Series featuring “Wreck-it Ralph,” will be at 6:30 p.m. at the White Rock Town Hall.
New Mexico Consortium: Talk by Dr. Richard Sayre, director, at 7 p.m. at PEEC. Talk sponsored by Los Alamos Sustainable Energy Network.
The March Atomic Film Festival featuring “On the Beach,” will be at 7 p.m. in Fuller Lodge. The Atomic Film Festival, held every other month except in the summer when it is held monthly, is free and open to the public, with support from Dr. Arthur Montoya, DDS and Re/MAX Los Alamos.
The LA GOP Central Committee will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at UNM-LA, room 220. All Republicans are welcome. Central Committee members are encouraged to attend.
Registration for the next session of dog training classes offered by the Los Alamos Dog Obedience Club will begin March 11. Class schedule, registration guidelines and registration form will be available on the LADOC website ladoc.dogbits.com and at the LADOC building, 246 East Road. Registration materials must be postmarked by March 22.
It is Fish Fry time again at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall from 5-7 p.m. Adult plates are $10 and have two pieces of cod, with coleslaw and rice or French fries, plus a drink and dessert. Children may have one piece of fish or a grilled cheese sandwich with all the rest for $7 a plate.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is sponsoring an Easter Music Celebration. It will be 7 p.m. at the L.D.S. Chapel, 1967 18th St. A second performance will be at 7 p.m. March 23 in Santa Fe at the L.D.S. Chapel, 410 Rodeo Road. The program will feature many local musicians from various religious denominations performing selections from Handel’s “Messiah” and other traditional Easter pieces. Complimentary refreshments will follow the performance. All are invited to attend. The event is free to the public.
