Bingo to benefit Right to Life will be at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Food will be available for a donation.
The Barranca Book Fair is open to the community March 9 and 10 and March 14-16. The event is hosted by the Barranca Mesa PTO and items for sale will include books for pre-schoolers to 6th graders, and gift items. Visitors must stop at the office for a visitor’s pass. Hours of the book fair are8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Wednesday; 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday; 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. March 14-15; and 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. March 16.
The Los Alamos Federated Republican Women will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. at the home of Cathy Walters, 4112 Ridgeway Dr. 662-5266. Geoff Rodgers, county council member, will be the guest speaker. The Los Alamos Genealogical Association will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. in Room 3 of the Mesa Public Library. Dr. Russ Shaw will speak about “Medicine 200 Years Ago.” The public is invited. For more information, call Jodie Frye at 662-3381.
A pedestrian workshop with a focus on older adults will be at noon at Betty Ehart Senior Center. A brief presentation will be in the Senior Center lunch room before the workshop. Lunch will be available at $4. For reservations, call 662-8922 before 10 a.m. Friday morning. The workshop will convene at 12:45 p.m. in the senior center meeting room. The public is invited to participate in this free, interactive community forum to improve pedestrian safety in Los Alamos. The program will include a video presentation and an observational walk. There will be an informational meeting regarding the annual Washington, D.C. spring break trip from noon-1 p.m. in the Los Alamos Public Library. The tour company is offering an early bird sign-up discount for next year’s participants who send in their deposit for the trip prior to June 1. Join PAC 8 at its 30th birthday celebration from 7-9 p.m. at Fuller Lodge. The silent auction fundraiser will have wine and cheese tasting from around the world. Entertainment will be provided by Jan McDonald and Donna Smith and the Black Mesa Brass Quartet. Tickets can be purchased at CB Fox, PAC 8 or at the door.
Raptor Visit at PEEC, 3540 Orange Street. 7 p.m. Three new educational (non-releasable) raptors from the Santa Fe Raptor Center will visit. Educators will tell about the birds and allow the audience to view them up close. Family-friendly and free.
