The March meeting of the Los Alamos Master Gardeners will be at 7 p.m. at the White Rock Town Hall. Discussion will be plans for the Hope Garden.

It is Fish Fry time again at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall from 5-7 p.m. during Lent. The dinners are sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and proceed will benefit Nuestros Pequeños Orphanage in Honduras and other charities. Adult plates are $10 and have two pieces of cod, with coleslaw, and rice or French fries, plus a drink and dessert. Children may have one piece of fish or a grilled cheese sandwich with all the rest for $7 a plate.
The Relay for Life Kick-Off waffle breakfast will be from 8-10:30 a.m. at the Masonic Lodge, corner of 15th and Sage streets. The menu includes waffles with berry toppings and whipped cream, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, grits, orange juice and coffee. The cost is $7 per person.
Auditions for “Stones in His Pockets,” by Marie Jones will be from 1-3 p.m. March 9 and fro 7-9 p.m. March 11. The play is written for two men to play all 15 characters, but the director is not ruling out the possibility of casting a woman in one of these slots. Versatile actors who can do American, British, Cockney, Scottish and Irish accents are needed. Scripts are available at the library for overnight checkout. The Pajarito Astronomers, in conjunction with PEEC, will hold a county-sponsored Dark Night at 7 p.m. at Spirio Soccer Field, Overlook Park. Weather permitting, comet PanStarrs should be visible in the west for up to an hour. The comet is currently predicted to be of moderate brightness and may have a visible tail. Once the comet has set, Jupiter and its moons will be placed for viewing, as will the winter constellations and a variety of double stars, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies. Parents of current Los Alamos High School juniors are invited to attend Junior Parent Night at 6:30 p.m. in the Speech Theater. Junior Parent Night is an evening presentation for the parents of current juniors, which provides information on post-secondary options. It covers the college admission process, including two- and four-year colleges, technical and vocational schools and military options. Information is available on college searches, SAT and ACT tests, admissions, financial aid and scholarships, summer programs, dual enrollment and helpful websites. Chapter AK of P.E.O. will hold election and installation of officers at 7 p.m. The meeting will be at the home of Pamela Massey (please note this is a change in location). Emma Stafford will serve as co-hostess and Irene Davis-Dellinger will present the program.
As part of its 2012-2013 lecture series, the Los Alamos Historical Society will offer “Hiroshima and Nagasaki 2010,” with speaker John A. Andersen, at 7:30 p.m. at Fuller Lodge. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Raptor Migration in Veracruz. Come to PEEC to see the raptor migration through Veracruz, Mexico. Robert Templeton will provide photos and video of the annual “super-flocking” phenomenon, where half a million raptors fly by in just four hours. Free.
