The Sierra Club presents Jeanne Fair and Mark Jankowski of LANL, at 7 p.m. at Mesa Public Library. The pair will talk about the Avian Flu and West Nile Virus.
The March meeting of the Los Alamos Master Gardeners will be 7 p.m. in the White Rock Town Hall.
Teatro Paraguas will present Jim Sagel, poeta Nuevo Mexicano, at 7 p.m. in the UNM-Los Alamos Lecture Hall (Bldg. 2). The event is free and open to everyone.

Opera Alta and the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos present Gilbert and Sullivan’s “HMS Pinafore,” condensed concert version at 7 p.m. March 4 and 2 p.m. March 5 at 1738 North Sage St. Suggested donation is $20 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.

Los Alamos Little Theater presents “Moonlight and Magnolias,” the story of how the “Gone With the Wind” screenplay was rewritten for huge success in a matter of days. Show times are 7:30 p.m. March 4, 5, 18 and 19; and 2 p.m. March 6. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors and may be purchased at CB Fox or at the door before each performance.

The Los Alamos Historical Society invites the public to the 6th talk of its 2010-2011 lecture series at 7:30 p.m. in the Pajarito Room of Fuller Lodge. A gathering of four Manhattan Project veterans will share memories of their experiences during the early years of Los Alamos. Historian and former associate director at Los Alamos National Laboratory, John Hopkins, will moderate the panel. The lectures are free and open to the public.
