Today
Club Anime will meet from 3:45-5:30 p.m. at Mesa Public Library. Club Anime is for teens, 14-19. No permission slip needed. Watch some anime and enjoy ramen and other snacks.

The LAHS NJROTC will host its monthly brisket night at 5:30 p.m. at the Posse Lodge. The menu includes brisket, potato salad, baked beans, roll, cookie and drink for $10. The funds raised will benefit unit travel and supplies throughout the year.

The Authors Speak Series presents Slim Randles, veteran newspaperman and outdoorsman, at 7 p.m. in the upstairs rotunda.
Friday
It’s Fish Fry time again at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall, from 5-7 p.m. The Knights of Columbus sponsor the dinners and proceeds will benefit Nuestros Pequeños Orphanage in Honduras and other charities. Adult plates are $10 and have two pieces of cod with coleslaw, rice or French fries, plus a drink and dessert. Children may have one piece of fish or a grilled cheese sandwich with all the rest for $7 a plate.

Los Alamos Little Theatre presents, “Van Choc Straw,” by Mark Dunn. A tale about family ties and the often stronger bonds of friendship that lattice the final years of our lives. 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings, March 1-16, with a 2 p.m. matinee March 10. Registration forms for the St. Patrick’s day themed fun run/walk can be downloaded from the Piñon Elementary School website. Early registration forms and fees are due March 1. Registration for adults (18 and older) is $10 and $5 for youth. Late registration fees (after March 1) are $20 for adults and $15 for youth. The community is invited. Sign up by the early registration date to be guaranteed a T-shirt. Sponsored by Piñon PTO.
Saturday
There will be a charity benefit for Cindy Geoffrion from 5-9 p.m. at De Colores. $5 donation at the door, music by Jemez’s Train Wreck Blues Band. Los Alamos’ State Road 4 and Friends, peace and healing through music. A cash bar will be available, along with munchies and more.
Sunday
A cowboy breakfast will be from 7-11 a.m. at the Sheriff’s Posse Lodge, 650 North Mesa Road. The menu includes plain, blueberry, banana, chocolate chip and a special variety of the month pancakes, along with sausage, bacon, eggs, juice and coffee. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 10 years and younger. Proceeds benefit the Rotary Club of Los Alamos.
March 4
The Summit Garden Club will meet for a workshop on basic floral design. Visitors welcome. For more information, call Betsy Comly at 672-1574.

Assets In Action will host Cookies and Conversation at LAHS, during lunch on Monday. Free lunch and cookies are provided to youth that will have lunch with local senior citizens. Call 695-9139 for more information, seniors and students welcome.

The Pajarito Chapter of the Embroiderers Guild of America will meet at 7 p.m. in Gibson Hall of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. After a short business meeting, the program will be making padded embroidery hoops. For more information call Marilyn at 672-9404.

Climate scientist Nathan Mcdowell will present “Climate Change and Forest Mortality from SW USA to the Globe,” at 7 p.m. in media room 203 at UNM-LA, building 2, as part of the Sierra Club talk.
March 7
The March meeting of the Los Alamos Master Gardeners will be at 7 p.m. at the White Rock Town Hall. Discussion will be plans for the Hope Garden.
