A chapter of The Compassionate Friends will meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the northeast side of the new YMCA Annex, Central Park Square, suite 140. Co-led by Eric Ferm and Valerie Wood. The organization offers non-denominational grief support after the death of a child. Bereaved parents and grandparents are welcome regardless of age. Composting Made Easy. 6:30 p.m. Certified arborist Laural Hardin will teach all the basics about composting and answer any questions you may have in a presentation at PEEC. This hour and a half class covers all the basics plus offers practical tips and recommendations on starting, building and using nature’s best soil conditioner, compost. Gillian Sutton, the Empty Bowls Project and Self Help Inc. will host Food and Networking. 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center, 109 Central Park Square, Find out more about the fundraiser for Self Help on March 15 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. Self Help Inc. uses the funds from the event to help people with all kinds of needs.

Friends of the Shelter is sponsoring a Mobile Pet Adoption from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in front of the Smith’s Food and Drug in Los Alamos. Meet some wonderful shelter dogs and talk with volunteers about any of the cats or dogs currently at the shelter.

Managing Chronic Disease: A MyCD Workshop. Held once a week for six weeks. 1-3:30 p.m. at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. Session four: Better Breathing, Healthy Eating, Communication Skills, Problem Solving and Making an Action Plan. The workshop is free but pre-registration is required. The Los Alamos Adobe Users Group (LAAUG), meets from 7-9 p.m., the first Tuesday of each month, upstairs in the Fuller Lodge Art Center. The focus of LAAUG is digital photography post-processing. Digital capture is also discussed. Meetings moderated by Doug Coombs and Ken Hanson, or by a group member. Past presentations are posted and available to all on the website laaug.wordpress.com/.
