“Metal Menageries: Sculptures by Richard Swenson and David Trujillo” opens with a public reception from 5:30-7 p.m. in the upstairs rotunda and art gallery at Mesa Public Library. Peggy Pendergast will cater refreshments. This is a Chamber of Commerce FAN Club event in conjunction with the Friends of Los Alamos County Libraries. The exhibit will be on display during regular library hours, through Feb. 27.

The Juvenile Justice Advisory Board’s next meeting will be at 6:15 p.m. in Building #1, Camino Entrada Road, Pajarito Cliffs Site. The public is welcome to attend.

Collaborative Restoration of the Jemez Mountains. Come to PEEC to hear about The Nature Conservancy’s restoration and conservation projects in the Jemez. Forest Conservation Program Manager Anne Bradley will discuss their partnership with “Conservation Canines” to study Jemez Mountain Salamanders. 7 p.m. Free. No registration required. The Los Alamos County GOP meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Hilltop House Hotel, in the Acoma Room.

The Democratic Party of Los Alamos will have the state Democratic President Javier Gonzales talk about the past elections and the future of the party, from 7-8:30 p.m. in building two at UNM-LA. This is a new meeting place. Building two is the one facing Diamond, on the left, as you go up the stairs. All Democrats are invited to attend.

Registration for the next session of dog training classes offered by the Los Alamos Dog Obedience Club began Jan. 7. Class schedule, registration guidelines and registration form will be available on the LADOC website ladoc.dogbits.com and at the LADOC building, 246 East Road. Registration materials must be postmarked by Jan. 18.

The LAHS NJROTC is hosting a Zumbathon from 7-9 p.m. at the Pueblo Complex Gym, featuring instructors Reanna A. Terrazas and Natalie Smith. There will be door prizes. Beau Gerard, also known as the Bike Doc has just come back from an audition for “America’s Got Talent” in San Antonio. He will have a free home performance at 3 p.m. showcasing his solo piano compositions and some covers from John Lennon, Cat Stevens and Neil Young. This is an RSVP and a non smoking event.
