A forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters will introduce the community to the candidates for the Los Alamos Public Schools School Board and for the University of New Mexico Los Alamos Advisory Board. Meet the eight candidates at UNM-LA Lecture Hall from 7 - 9 p.m.  Early voting is happening now. The election is Feb. 1.

The Creative Culture District’s cultural planner is coming to Los Alamos Jan. 19-21. Attend the town hall meeting to give your input on what the needs are in Los Alamos. It will be from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 20 at Mesa Public Library in Rooms 2 and 3.

Be a part of the 2011 Senior Appreciation Night. Individuals and volunteers interested in helping to plan a safe, fun-filled, drug-free, all-night celebration for Los Alamos High School and home school graduating seniors are invited to a Senior Appreciation Night planning meeting, from 1-2 p.m. at the Aquatic Center Training Room, 2760 Canyon Road. Parents, organization representatives, community service groups and business owners should attend. SAN is a co-operative effort between parent volunteers, Los Alamos County Recreation Division, the Family YMCA and approximately

“Herbal remedies for children,” a class with Kristi Beguin, will be from 1-4 p.m. at Pajarito Environmental Education Center, 3540 Orange St. Registration is $12 or $10 for PEEC members and can be done at www.

Jan. 27
The Backcountry Film Festival, will be at 7 p.m. at the Reel Deal Theater. One night only, showing of prize-winning short films highlighting winter adventures snowboarding, skiing, snowshoeing. All tickets $7 at the door as a benefit to Pajarito Environmental Education Center.
Feb. 2
The Summit Garden Club will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a luncheon at White Rock Baptist Church.  All members and former members are invited. For information and reservations, which need to be in by Jan. 26, call Dorothy Crawford at 672-3315.
Feb. 12
The Valentine Coffeehouse, sponsored by the Los Alamos Arts Council, will be at 7:30 p.m. at Fuller Lodge and includes dessert and a beverage. Music begins at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are currently available.
