The Republican Party of Los Alamos will elect the 2011-2012 County Central Committee and its officers at the Best Western Hilltop House. The County Contingent to the Republican Party of New Mexico Central Committee will also be elected. Republicans registered in the County of Los Alamos are encouraged to attend. Registration opens at 6:30 p.m. and closes at 7 p.m. A meeting of the 2009-2010 Central Committee begins at 7 p.m., followed by Ward Caucuses and the County Convention. The Los Alamos Genealogical Association will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. in Room 3 of the Mesa Public Library. The theme of this meeting will be “Old, Interesting and Strange Family Recipes. The Chamisa Elementary PTO will host a five week, “Love and Logic” parenting seminar, with instructor Lisa Bigley.The cost is $60 per couple or $40 per individual. A New Mexico Legislative Preview will be sponsored by the League of Woman Voters and the American Association of University Women at Fuller Lodge at 7 p.m. Hear what our legislators, Dick Mason of Health Action New Mexico and Rep. Brian Egolf of Santa Fe have to say about the coming session.
A clothing drive will be at Crossroads Bible Church, 97 East Road, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Clothing, shoes, coats and most winter items will be accepted. The clothing will be distributed to shelters around New Mexico.
A forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters will introduce the community to the candidates for the Los Alamos Public Schools School Board and for the University of New Mexico Los Alamos Advisory Board. Meet the eight candidates at UNM-LA Lecture Hall from 7 - 9 p.m. Early voting is happening now. The election is Feb. 1.
The Creative Culture District’s cultural planner is coming to Los Alamos Jan. 19-21. Attend the town hall meeting to give your input on what the needs are in Los Alamos. It will be from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 20 at Mesa Public Library in Rooms 2 and 3.

The Backcountry Film Festival, will be at 7 p.m. at the Reel Deal Theater. One night only, showing of prize-winning short films highlighting winter adventures snowboarding, skiing, snowshoeing. All tickets $7 at the door as a benefit to Pajarito Environmental Education Center.
