Mesa Public Library 2011 Free Film Series has a new theme, music. The series of six films kicks off with “Immortal Beloved,” a romantic mystery about Beethoven. Soundtrack available for checkout on CD too.
An opening reception for “New Mexico Journey,” featuring artwork by Mi Ra Won, will be from 4-5:30 p.m. at Mesa Public Library. The artwork will be on display through Jan. 28.
An opening reception for the “Inner Child” exhibit featuring work by Kathy Geoffrion Parker and Judy Cady Ryan, will be from 5-7 p.m. at the Fuller Lodge Art Center.
Los Alamos Liitle Theatre announces its production of Agatha Christie’s “Go Back for Murder.” Performances of “Go Back for Murder” are at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 7, 8, 14, 21, 22, 2011 and at 2 p.m. on Jan. 15, all at the Los Alamos Little Theatre, 1670 Nectar Street. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and are available for advance purchase at CB Fox and also at the door 45 minutes before each performance.

The Los Alamos Volunteer Examiner group will host the first quarterly amateur radio exam session of the year at 6:30 p.m. at the old “fire barn,” 4017 Arkansas, in the upstairs meeting room. There will be testing for all classes of License. Those who wish to take the initial test for a technician-class License will need a picture ID or two other forms of ID and a test fee of $15, either cash or check made out to the ARRL VEC. Those who wish to upgrade to a higher class License will need a picture ID or two other forms of ID, the original license and a copy, or a valid certificate of successful completion of exam and a copy, plus the $15 exam fee. The Republican Party of Los Alamos will elect the 2011-2012 County Central Committee and its officers at the Best Western Hilltop House. The County Contingent to the Republican Party of New Mexico Central Committee will also be elected. Republicans registered in the County of Los Alamos are encouraged to attend. Registration opens at 6:30 p.m. and closes at 7 p.m. A meeting of the 2009-2010 Central Committee begins at 7 p.m., followed by Ward Caucuses and the County Convention.
