Beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday, ice cream lovers can enjoy their favorite Baskin-Robbins flavors for only 31 cents per 2.5 oz. scoop, while paying tribute to fallen firefighters.
“This is a way to honor our fallen firefighters and also kick off summer at the same time,” owner Dan Sena said. “Last year we had about 3,000 people move through the line. We had firetrucks in the parking lot for the kids and all kinds of fun things going on.”
This year, Baskin-Robbins, located in the Mari-Mac shopping center on Trinity Drive, will have a Hawaiian theme.
Also, Sena said he is using local “celebrity scoopers.” Employees from Los Alamos National Bank including many from the teller line will pitch in and scoop up cones at the event.
“LANB is excited to be part of the Baskin Robbins’ 31 Cent Scoop Night,” said LANB Operations Officer Melissa Romero. “This is a great event because it allows multiple organizations to come together to raise money for a great cause and have some fun, as well. We appreciate Dan asking us to be part this fundraising effort.”
The store has been in town since 1950, Sena said, adding that he and wife Margie have owned it for 24 years.
