The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys basketball team will host the first round of the District 2AAAA championship tournament Monday.
The Hilltoppers, who finished fourth in the district regular season race, will host the Bernalillo Spartans Monday night. Game time is 7 p.m.
Both the 2AAAA boys and girls tournaments will be played this week. The winners of the tournaments will get an automatic bid to the Class 4A state championship tournament, which is scheduled to start next weekend.
On the boys side, Los Alamos’ (6-20 overall, 2-6 in 2AAAA) only two wins of the district season both came against Bernalillo. The winner of Monday’s game will advance to play at Santa Fe Tuesday night.
Both the boys and girls district tournament championship games will be played at Española Valley Saturday night.
Española Valley won both the regular season boys and girls district titles.
Los Alamos’ girls (12-13 overall, 6-2 in 2AAAA), the No. 2 seed in their district tournament, will host the winner of Tuesday night’s game Thursday.
Bernalillo, which finished as the bottom seed in the district race, will play Capital Monday night with the winner of that game facing Santa Fe Tuesday.
