A pair of Los Alamos Hilltopper basketball stars were selected among the top players in the state of New Mexico.

Alex Kirk and Taylor Ealey were among the All-Class AAAA selections for the 2009-10 season as chosen by the New Mexico High School Coaches Association.

Kirk, one of the top prep prospects in New Mexico in the last decade, was named a AAAA All-State boys basketball selection. The 6-foot, 11-inch senior, who signed to play hoops with the University of New Mexico next year, was among the state’s leaders in numerous statistical categories, including points (25.2 per game), rebounds (13.7 per game) and blocked shots (8.1 per game).

Ealey, meanwhile, averaged 14.4 points per game to lead the Hilltopper girls basketball team this season. Defensively, Ealey blocked 30 shots. Ealey was also second on the team in rebounds (6.1 per game) and steals (2.37 per game).

Both Ealey and Kirk are scheduled to make one more appearance in their prep careers. Both were selected for the North-South All-Star Games this summer. The girls All-Star game is scheduled for June 9 and the boys game is slated for July 29.
