Northern New Mexico College in Española has narrowed its field of prospective basketball coaches down to just four.
NNMC is starting a new athletics program next year. The finalists for the new position, chosen out of an initial field of 19, are Enzley Mitchell, Todd Huffman, Aaron Chavez and Ryan Cordova.
The school is inviting interested members of the public to a meet-and-greet session with the finalists. That session will be held Monday in the common area of the Montoya Administration Building on NNMC’s Española campus. It will start at 5 p.m.
Chavez, Huffman and Mitchell all have college coaching experience. Cordova is an assistant boys basketball coach with Española Valley High School.
Chavez is an assistant men’s coach at Bakersfield (Calif.) College, Mitchell is an assistant men’s coach at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., and Huffman is an assistant women’s coach at Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill.
At Monday’s meet-and-greet, each candidate’s background will be discussed, the candidates will address the attendees and the attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions.
