Baseball drops two to Spartans

The Los Alamos Hilltopper baseball team fell in both ends of a doubleheader Saturday.

Los Alamos was nipped by the visiting Bernalillo Spartans 3-2 in game one, then in a game pitting mostly the less-experienced players on both squads, the Spartans took a 21-6 win.

The win in game one Saturday sealed the District 2AAAA championship for the Spartans, their second straight district title.

Los Alamos (11-14, 7-5), however, will still advance to the state Class AAAA tournament.

Brackets for the AAAA state tournament are due to be released today on the New Mexico Activities Association’s website, www.nmact.org.
