-A A +A
By Mike Cote

The Los Alamos Hilltopper softball team picked up a No. 6 seed and the Hilltopper baseball team earned a No. 7 seed in the upcoming Class 4A playoffs.

The New Mexico Activities Association released the baseball and softball postseason brackets Sunday. Full brackets can be viewed at nmact.org.

By virtue of their seeds, both Hilltopper teams will host opening round games this week.

Los Alamos’ baseball team will host the 10th-seeded Miyamura Patriots in the opening round. Class 4A baseball plays a best 2-of-3 series in the first round and moves to single elimination afterward.

The first game of the series is scheduled for Friday and the other game or games, if necessary, will be Saturday. No times have yet been announced.

The Hilltopper softball team will host a single-elimination game either Friday or Saturday – the schedule hasn’t yet been announced – against rival St. Pius X, the No. 11 seed.

Following the opening round, teams will move on to double-elimination play staring May 10.
