The Los Alamos Hilltopper baseball team earned its second straight District 2AAAA championship Saturday.
Los Alamos, which needed to win just one of two games Saturday against Capital, swept the Jaguars at Bomber Field. Los Alamos took the first game 15-2, then for good measure earned a 17-6 victory in the nightcap.
The Hilltoppers close out the regular season with a record of 12-11 — it was the first time this season Los Alamos had been over the .500 mark — and finish up 11-1 in 2AAAA.
Los Alamos will now host a first round playoff game this weekend. The winner of this weekend's playoff will move on to play in the state AAAA quarterfinals.
The Class AAAA playoff bracket will be announced early this week.
Los Alamos finished its regular season having won 10 of its last 11 contests.
