Barbara Ann Krohn

KROHN – Barbara Ann Krohn, 86, died on February 29, 2008 after a brief illness. She was born in Verona, Wisconsin in 1921 to Clarence and Freida Rockwell. She graduated from The University of Wisconsin with a degree in Art Education. Barbara is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert D. Krohn; a brother, Clarence Rockwell, Jr.; children Douglas Krohn and his wife Marilyn, Bruce Krohn and his wife Marsha, Dr. Jacquie Krohn, her husband Roger Stutz, and Diane Krohn and her companion Wayne Beckman; grandchildren Kristina Krohn, Keith Krohn, and Samantha Stutz.In 1943, as a newly married woman, she moved to the "closed city" of Los Alamos, NM, and had many adventures unheard of in today's open world. She and her husband Bob stayed in Los Alamos until 1983 when they moved to Los Lunas upon Bob's retirement from Los Alamos National Laboratory and enjoyed traveling extensively, including a journey completely around the world. In their travels, they made friends in connection with the dogs throughout Europe and South Africa. Barbara and Bob were instrumental in introducing the Belgian Tervuren dog to the United States in 1953, and are founding members of the American Belgian Tervuren Club as well as the Los Alamos Dog Obedience Club.
