Saint Dimitri Orthodox Church will have its 12th annual Holiday Bake Sale of cookies and sweets from traditional Eastern Orthodox lands on Dec. 19.
This year all proceeds from the Holiday Bake Sale will be given to the survivors of the Russian wildfires that broke out across Russia starting in July.
Recently a group of visiting firefighters from Los Alamos’ Sister City of Sarov, shared information regarding the effects of the widespread fires. Funds collected will be sent directly to the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) in Washington, DC for distribution through its representation church in Moscow.
The holiday baked goods box features a selection of baklava, Greek koulerakia, Greek paximadia, monastery cookies, Russian teacakes and Russian honey cookies. Included with the baked goods is a sample of imported Russian tea. In addition, the gift box will include three pure beeswax candles, hand-dipped by the monks at the monastery of the Archangel Michael, located in Canoñes, N.M. The baked goods, tea and candles are presented in a box suitable for gift giving. The price is $19.95 per box.
The imported Russian tea in several varieties, in both tins and in boxes, will also be available for purchase.
