The Arts in Public Places Board has been hard at work making plans to spread art throughout Los Alamos County.
At their meeting on Wednesday night, the Board discussed various projects that are in the works and presented updates on these projects.
The Arts in Public Places Board is working on a plan that would spruce up the Judicial/Police/Jail Complex once its construction is completed.
Community Services Director and Board liaison Stephani Johnson said, “the Board members were concerned about the building having blank walls, as they did not see that as aesthetically pleasing. Capital Projects and Facilities Manager Anne Laurent suggested that the Board look at attaching something to the building.”
Johnson said the Board decided they would like to add something to the wall on the Ashley Pond side to complement the pond. A suggestion was made that the Board ask the building’s occupants and the architect for some ideas, at the same time considering a landscape plan that Parks Director Dick McIntyre prepared. The Board decided that Laurent should bring some artwork images to a future meeting for consideration.
