BURKHART – Arthur Milton Burkhart Sr., age 84, passed away at the Los Alamos Medical Center Dec.19, 2007, after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita P. Burkhart; his grandparents, Alva and Beatrice Burkhart; parents, Mahlon and Cora Burkhart; and sister, Rose Pappas.He was born in Woodward, Iowa, on July 23, 1923, to Mahlon and Cora Burkhart. He married Bonita P. Sharp at the Los Alamos First Baptist Church on Sept. 10, 1958. He served as Master of a regular council of Royal and Select Masters and was crowned a life member of the Order of the Silver Trowel, member of the following: Order of the Eastern Star, Supreme Council, 33 , S.J., U.S.A., Pajarito Lodge No. 66, AF & AM, Red Cross of Constantine, and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J., U.S.A.He is survived by his daughter, Gloria F. Burkhart of Farmington, N.M.; son, Arthur M. Burkhart Jr. of Los Alamos, N.M.; brother, John Burkhart (Orma); sister, Roberta Mockmore; and nieces and nephews.A visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at McGee Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Berardinelli Family Funeral Services, 1399 Luisa St., Santa Fe, NM, 87505 – 505-984-8600.
