A clerk was robbed at knife point while on duty Saturday afternoon inside Mountainair Cleaners at 147 Central Park Square.
"It’s very upsetting,” said Dina Quintana who co-owns the business with her husband Richard Beaudoin. “In my opinion, he had a plan and he was able to penetrate protective measures that had already been in place.”
The young man was not injured and was able to call to report the robbery.
Los Alamos Police Det. Sgt. DeWayne Williams explained that the armed robbery took place at about 1:12 p.m. when a man entered the business and held the clerk at knife point while demanding money.
“He got away with approximately $600 in cash,” Williams said. “The suspect was wearing a hooded jacket with a patch or logo on the right sleeve, dark pants, white tennis shoes, gloves and a ski mask. The suspect is believed to be a white male between 5'10'' and 6'0'' tall, thin to medium build.”
A video inside the business recorded the suspects actions, he said, adding that detectives are aggressively pursuing all leads.
“A $1,000 crimestoppers reward has been approved with an additional $500 added by the business owners for information leading to the arrest and conviction of this suspect,” Williams said.
