So we have another outrageous decision by the U.S. Supreme Court, granting the right of Habeas Corpus to Guantanamo prisoners.
Sen. John McCain calls it one of the worst decisions in history. Newt Gingrich calls it the worst – even worse than the Dred Scott fugitive slave law decision. The Wall Street Journal tops them both by comparing it to the recent terrorist-freeing prison break engineered by the Taliban in Afghanistan, calling the breakout “Habeas Corpus – Taliban style.”
The embarrassing thing for conservatives is that these outrageous decisions, legislating from the bench, creating rights out of thin air, are being perpetrated by a court dominated by appointees of conservative Republican presidents, never less than 6 of 9, currently 7 of 9.
Worst of all, the chief perpetrator of the current outrage was Justice Anthony Kennedy, an appointee of the near-sainted Ronald Reagan.
If you can’t trust a Reagan appointee, who can you trust?
If only we had more originalist justices like Antonin Scalia, who honors the rock-solid values of our founding fathers – when men were men, women were in the kitchen and slaves were counted and 3/5ths of a person.
Excuse the sarcasm.
