Michael Anastasio, who announced his retirement as the head of the Los Alamos National Laboratory last week, addressed a Community Leaders breakfast hosted by LANL at Buffalo Thunder Casino and Resort Tuesday morning. Anastasio said he plans to step down on June 1 and he has no specific retirement plans except to say he and his wife plan to stay in New Mexico. “It feels a little funny,” Anastasio said. “It’s a little like a funeral when everybody says it was nice knowing you.” Anastasio said he hopes to get a replacement soon at the lab. He gave up an update on the lab and cited the work done by all the scientists in addition to the all of the LANL volunteers.
