American Red Cross hosts open house

The open house for the local American Red Cross service station revealed a familiar setting. After years of being located in the municipal building, the Red Cross returned to its old location at 2150 Juniper St.Its return was celebrated with food and music. “It feels good,” Kathy Seguara, service center manager, said. Just the response from the community is rewarding.”She added people have commented about how nice it was to see the Red Cross flag hung outside.Seguara said the Red Cross returned to the little house nine months ago because of the reconstruction occurring at the municipal building.Marge Wolfe, a former Red Cross volunteer, said the reason why the Red Cross left the 2150 Juniper Street was “there wasn’t enough room.”With materials, classes and offices, the staff was always looking for a bigger place, she said. However, “we always loved this place,” Wolfe said.The event was more just to reintroduce the community to building; it also presented Cindy Adams, the new regional chief executive officer, to the community.
