The Los Alamos County 9- and 10-year-old All Star softball team defeated Pojoaque 19-2 on Sunday in a first-round victory in the team’s District 1 tournament.
Pitcher Jenna Harris tossed a one-hitter, racking up 12 strikeouts in the game that was called after four innings. She was helped in what was described as a “stellar performance” by catcher Kaylee Ellsworth.
At the plate, Harris knocked in five runs by hitting a single, double and triple.
Aspen DeHerrera hit a double. Other team members took advantage of singles and bases on balls.
Each player on the team scored a run.
Los Alamos scored a first-round bye before playing Pojoaque, which knocked off Espanola 19-11 in the tournament opener. Los Alamos will next play the winner of tonight’s game between Española and Pojoaque at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bun Ryan Field in Los Alamos.
A victory would send Los Alamos to the state tournament.
