Chances are you know one of the Sorenson clan. With a family as large, exuberant and talented as they are, it’s hard to pass under the radar in Los Alamos. Village Arts is providing a platform for their many talents through a show entitled, “All in the Family,” which will be shown through Jan. 3 at the store on DP Road. Artwork spans three generations and covers a broad spectrum of styles and media.
Ken Nebel, Village Arts co-owner, has known some of the Sorenson family members since grade school, and grew up along side them.
“It’s been such a pleasure to see this gallery take shape and to reconnect with the Sorenson’s through their artwork,” Nebel said. “Their work is such a reflection of their individual personalities, but all works so well together, I can’t imagine a better title for this show!”
Featured artists include Dorothy Foss, Louisa Gilani, Lawrence Foss, Erna Foss, Bertie Sorenson, Rose Cardona, Julia Sheppard, Laura Tietjen, Sophie Sorenson, Brenda Sorenson, Kristen Sorenson, Joey Sorenson and Jack Sorenson.
To find out how they’re all related, those interested can stop by Village Arts or take a look at the “All in the Family” blog at http://allinthefamilyartshow.blogspot.com/.
Nebel encourages the public to stop by, take a look and sign the artists’ guestbook. Village Arts is open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, with shortened hours over New Year’s weekend.
