Registered voters can begin casting absentee and early ballots for the June 3 primary election at 8 a.m. Tuesday in the Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office at 2451 Central Avenue, Suite D. The office is open Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Voter registration ends at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Alternate voting begins May 17 at the White Rock Fire Station at 129 NM N.M. 4. The station will be open for voters from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. each Saturday including May 17, 24 and 31. The station also will be open for alternate voting during the week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday May 20-31.
All absentee and early voting ends at 6 p.m. May 31.
The primary election day polls will remain open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. June 3.
“We still need poll workers,” said Chief Deputy Clerk Sheryl Nichols. “It’s a paid position and training is provided.”
Poll workers are required to be registered voters, she said, adding that every attempt is made to place voters near their voting locations. Poll workers are only eligible to work the polls in the county in which they are registered.
Poll workers are required to arrive at the assigned polling place at 6 a.m., Nichols said, and remain on site until the presiding judge dismisses them after 7 p.m.
