There’s no better way to commemorate a 50th anniversary than a big party.
Forecasts are calling for near-perfect weather during the event.
The Los Alamos Monitor officially turned 50 on March 7, but the party is just getting started. The celebration wouldn’t be complete without a couple of bands, some birthday cake, and a few hundred of our closest friends… In fact, the entire town is invited!
From noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 18 join the Los Alamos Monitor in celebration of 50 incredible years serving Los Alamos. The soiree will take place on Fuller Lodge lawn and part of the nearby Central Park Square.
The Bronach Celtic Blues band and D.K. and the Affordables will provide the musical entertainment for the festivities. Bring your lawn chairs, grab a piece of birthday cake and enjoy the music.
Or, bring your appetite and have a Blake’s Lotaburger which will be on hand serving up great burgers, fries, and all the extras. Top that off with an ice cream or snow cone from Fabulous 50’s Diner.
You’ll want to stroll over and take in the car and motorcycle show featuring the LA Car Club, and the Legion Riders.
Animal lovers won’t want to miss the mobile pet adoption event from 12-3 p.m. sponsored by Friends of the Shelter.
The younger set can burn off some energy at the bounce house provided by Party to Go. Face-painting and a Henna tattoo artist will also be there.
There will also be a number of businesses and other organizations exhibiting during the event.
Look for Brian McPartlon Roofing, Sierra Vista Retirement, Positive Energy Solar, Santa Fe Stoneworks, and Music from Angel Fire, McCurdy Ministries, the Boy Scouts and others to be on hand.
“We wanted to have an event that included a little something for everybody, and we want to use this as a venue to thank Los Alamos for 50 fantastic years,” Publisher Keven Todd said.
“The Los Alamos Monitor is still relatively young as newspapers go, and while this is an important milestone, the best years are definitely still ahead for this multimedia news and information organization.”
